Lore
Biology
Dubwool is 1.3 m tall and weighs 43 kg. Most of its body is a rounded coat of white fleece with black patches, with a grey woolly ring around its head. It has two small curved horns under the head and two longer, darker ones sweeping back from the top, a black face with a white patch, black legs and brown hooves.
Behaviour
Dubwool's long horns are for display to the opposite gender, not for fighting, according to the Pokédex. Bulbapedia adds, without explanation, that Dubwool are known to disappear mysteriously whenever a Beheeyem visits.
Habitat
The Pokédex gives no habitat. In Sword and Shield it is found at Dusty Bowl, Hammerlocke Hills, Motostoke Riverbank and Rolling Fields, and in the Crown Tundra on Slippery Slope and Frostpoint Field.
Powers
Dubwool has Fluffy or Steadfast, with Bulletproof hidden. Its wool powers Cotton Guard, and it hits with Headbutt, Double-Edge and Reversal, then finishes with Last Resort at level 56. Base Defense 100 and Special Defense 90, with decent Speed of 88, make it a bulky Normal type.
Name origin
Dubwool may combine 'double' and 'wool'. The Japanese name is Baiwooluu (バイウールー), which may join bai ('twice'), 'wool' and Wooluu, the name of its pre-evolution.
Design inspiration
Dubwool may have been modelled on the Jacob sheep, a breed from Britain with four horns and a patchy black-and-white coat, and it also resembles the old Viking sheep. Bulbapedia notes the shape and pattern of its wool look like a football. These are fan readings.
Evolution notes
Dubwool evolves from Wooloo at level 24 and is the final stage.
In the games
Hop's final team is led by his newly evolved Dubwool in Sword and Shield, where Dubwool debuted. It is not available in Scarlet and Violet or Legends: Z-A.
In the anime
Dubwool's first series appearance is in 'Just a Scone's Throw From Here!', after James draws one from the Rocket Prize Master. Hop's Wooloo has evolved into a Dubwool by 'The Gathering of Stars' in Pokémon: Twilight Wings.
