Lore
Biology
Ducklett is a light blue duckling, 0.5 m tall and 5.5 kg. Two feathery tufts on its head meet at the bottom to form a V, and its darker blue underside looks as if it is halfway through moulting. Its feet are yellow and webbed, and it has a small tail.
Behaviour
Ducklett is a talented diver, and the Pokédex says it strengthens its body by diving to the depths of ponds. When it is attacked, it splashes water from its feathers and escapes under cover of the spray.
Habitat
Bulbapedia says it lives around ponds and rivers. In Scarlet and Violet it is found in Kitakami, in Fellhorn Gorge, Kitakami Wilds, Mossfell Confluence and Oni Mountain, as part of The Teal Mask, and in 1 star Tera Raid Battles.
Diet
The Pokédex says its favourite food is peat moss, and a Violet entry says it hunts bog moss on its dives.
Powers
Ducklett has the Abilities Keen Eye and Big Pecks, with Hydration hidden. It mixes Water moves (Water Gun, Water Pulse, Bubble Beam) with Flying moves (Wing Attack, Aerial Ace, Air Slash), and later learns Tailwind, Brave Bird and Hurricane. Its base stats are modest, with 62 HP and 55 Speed, so it is mostly a step on the way to Swanna.
Name origin
Ducklett may be a twisted form of 'ducklet', possibly mixed with 'wet' or the small-thing suffix '-ette'. The Japanese name is Koaruhie (コアルヒー), which may combine 子 ko (child) or 小 ko (small) with a corruption of 家鴨 ahiru (duck).
Design inspiration
Ducklett looks like a duckling or a cygnet, and its darker underside resembles a swim ring. Bulbapedia says the line may also follow the fairy tale of the Ugly Duckling, in which a plain duckling grows into a beautiful swan. These are fan readings.
Evolution notes
Ducklett evolves into Swanna at level 35.
In the games
Ducklett turned up on Route 7 in Kalos in X and Y, after debuting at Driftveil Drawbridge in Black and White. It is not available in Legends: Z-A.

A trio of Ducklett debuted in 'Dancing With the Ducklett Trio!', stealing items from Ash and his friends, such as Ash's hat and the sunglasses Sandile was wearing. Dash's Ducklett in Horizons was shown to have evolved into a Swanna in 'The Strong Sphere'.
