Fraxure

Fraxure is a Dragon-type Pokémon, the Axe Jaw Pokémon, number 611 (#0611) in the National Pokédex. It was introduced in Generation 5 and comes from the Unova region. It is 1 m tall and weighs 36 kg.
Fraxure is the Axe Jaw Pokémon, a hot-tempered Dragon type with a costly weakness: the Pokédex says a broken tusk never grows back, unlike Axew's. So it hones them on river rocks after every fight.

Lore
Biology
Fraxure is a bipedal dragon, 1.0 m tall and 36 kg, with a grey face, long grey tusks tipped in red, and dark eyes with red irises. A cowl of green segments covers its head, neck, back and chest. The Pokédex compares its skin to a suit of armour and says its tusks can shatter rocks.
Behaviour
Fraxure is territorial, and the Pokédex says fights over turf between Fraxure can turn intensely violent. Because a broken tusk will not regrow, the Scarlet entry says it apparently avoids using them unless truly necessary. Bulbapedia adds it clashes with Bisharp over sharpening stones.
Habitat
Bulbapedia says Fraxure lives alongside rivers. In Scarlet and Violet it is found around Dalizapa Passage and North Province Area One, and The Indigo Disk adds the Canyon and Polar Biomes.
Diet
The Violet Pokédex says it uses its tusks to cut prey into two neat portions, one for now and one kept for later.
Powers
Fraxure shares its line's Abilities, Rivalry and Mold Breaker, with Unnerve hidden. It learns Dragon Claw, Slash and Outrage by level. With 117 base Attack against 40 Special Attack and 70 Defence, it is a physical attacker with modest bulk.
Name origin
Fraxure may combine 'fracture' and 'axe'. The Japanese name is Onondo (オノンド), which may blend ono ('axe'), 'dragon' and -don, a suffix from the Greek for 'tooth' in the names of prehistoric animals.
Design inspiration
Fraxure's elongated tusks seem to be based on pickaxe blades, and its crest may borrow from a basilisk lizard such as the brown basilisk. These are fan readings, not official statements.
Evolution notes
Fraxure evolves from Axew at level 38 and into Haxorus at level 48.
In the games
Fraxure first appeared in Black and White, where it is found on Victory Road. In Scarlet and Violet it can be caught in the wild and in 4-star Tera Raid Battles, and it is not available in Legends: Z-A.
In the anime
Fraxure debuted in 'Dreams by the Yard Full!' as a stage in Iris's Axew's dream of evolving, followed at once by Haxorus. In 'Drayden Versus Iris: Past, Present, and Future!', a young Iris pushed a borrowed Fraxure to exhaustion in a lost battle, then apologised to it.
Fun facts
- Bulbapedia says Fraxure is the Unova horoscope's sign for December.
- In X and Y, wild Fraxure can be found only in the Dragon-type Friend Safari.
- In Scarlet and Violet, Axew learns Swords Dance and Outrage at levels 39 and 42, earlier than Fraxure's 41 and 46, so an Axew held back from evolving gets them sooner.
