Frogadier

Frogadier is a Water-type Pokémon, the Bubble Frog Pokémon, number 657 (#0657) in the National Pokédex. It was introduced in Generation 6 and comes from the Kalos region. It is 0.6 m tall and weighs 10.9 kg.
Frogadier is so fast, the Pokédex says, that it can climb a tower taller than 600 m (2,000 ft) in a minute, thanks to fingertips and toes that stick to vertical surfaces. It is the ninja-like middle stage of Kalos's Water starter.

Lore
Biology
Frogadier is a pale blue frog that stands on two legs, 0.6 m tall and 10.9 kg. A dark blue hood-like marking spreads over its head and forms a three-pointed shape down its upper back, and a spike points backwards above each of its eyes. A scarf of white bubbles hangs round its neck, and it has dark blue hands with circular white fingertips and circular toes.
Behaviour
Frogadier is a tactician. The Pokédex says it plans battles around the terrain and never misses when it throws a bubble-coated pebble, and the X entry says it can hit an empty can 30 m (100 ft) away. Bulbapedia adds that it confounds opponents by leaping about ceilings and trees.
Habitat
The Pokédex gives no habitat. In Scarlet and Violet it arrives by trade or Pokémon HOME transfer, or by evolving Froakie in The Indigo Disk. In Legends: Z-A you evolve it from Froakie, and the Mega Dimension DLC adds wild ones.
Powers
Frogadier uses Water Pulse and Quick Attack, and later learns Substitute, Bounce and Hydro Pump. It has the same Abilities as Froakie, Torrent with a hidden Protean. Base Speed 97 and Special Attack 83 make it a quick special attacker, though its defences are low.
Name origin
Frogadier may combine 'frog' with 'brigadier' or 'grenadier', both military ranks or units. The Japanese name is Gekogashira (ゲコガシラ), possibly from geko ('croak') and wakagashira, a junior leader, or kogashira, the head of a section.
Design inspiration
Frogadier may be inspired by horned frogs, as the spikes above its eyes suggest. Its crouched pose, dark hood and foam scarf point to a ninja, and in the anime it runs across water, perhaps a nod to mizugumo, the water-walking footwear of ninja legend. These are fan readings.
Evolution notes
Froakie evolves into Frogadier at level 16, and Frogadier evolves into Greninja at level 36.
In the games
In Legends: Z-A Frogadier is the middle step on the way to Greninja, which can Mega Evolve in that game. It first appeared in X and Y, where it lives in the Water Friend Safari.
In the anime
Sanpei's Frogadier debuted in 'A Rush of Ninja Wisdom!' and spent the whole episode outside its Poké Ball. Ash's Froakie evolved into a Frogadier in 'A Stealthy Challenge!', in a battle where it teamed up with Pikachu and Sanpei's Greninja to take on Saizo's Barbaracle.
