Glimmora is a Rock/Poison-type Pokémon, the Ore Pokémon, number 970 (#0970) in the National Pokédex. It was introduced in Generation 9 and comes from the Paldea region. It is 1.5 m tall and weighs 45 kg.

Glimmora is a crystal flower made of poison, and the Pokédex says its petals have recently been found to resemble Tera Jewels. When it senses danger it opens up and fires beams from its body, and in the Mega Dimension DLC it can Mega Evolve.

Lore

Biology

Glimmora is 1.5 m tall and weighs 45 kg. A translucent black cone with yellow eyes forms its head, wrapped in layers of crystallised poison: six dark blue outer petals, four light purple ones and three light green ones at the centre.

Behaviour

Bulbapedia says Glimmora latches onto walls, disguised as a plant, and sucks out energy and nutrients. The Legends: Z-A Pokédex says it blooms into a large flower and joins groups of Glimmet to drive enemies away.

Habitat

The Pokédex gives no habitat. In Scarlet and Violet it can be met in 5-star and 6-star Tera Raid Battles and in Kitakami's Oni Mountain and Crystal Pool, and in Legends: Z-A it appears in the Mega Dimension DLC's Hyperspace Lumiose.

Powers

Toxic Debris scatters poison spikes when a physical move hits it, and its hidden Ability is Corrosion. It learns Mortal Spin on evolving and adds Toxic Spikes, Spiky Shield, Stealth Rock, Power Gem and Sludge Wave. Mega Glimmora, using Glimmoranite, spreads its enlarged petals so they orbit it, gains Adaptability, and reaches 2.8 m and 77 kg. With base Special Attack 130 it is a hard-hitting setter of hazards.

Name origin

Glimmora may combine 'glimmer' and 'flora', and might also include 'ore' or 'mortal'. The Japanese name is Kiraflor (キラフロル), which may blend kirakira ('glittering'), kirameku ('to glitter') and flor (Spanish and Portuguese for 'flower').

Design inspiration

Glimmora's blue petals may be based on the blue passionflower, which grows wild in Spain, and the poisonous fruits and flowers of nightshade plants. Bulbapedia suggests Mega Glimmora's Adaptability may nod to Terastallizing into one of your own types, which gives the same 2x attack boost. These are fan readings.

Evolution notes

Glimmora evolves from Glimmet at level 35 and has no further evolution.

In the games

Glimmora is Top Champion Geeta's ace in Scarlet and Violet, where it debuted: she sends it out last in the Champion Assessment and Terastallizes it at the first chance. Geeta is also its sync pair partner in Pokémon Masters EX.

In the anime

Glimmora debuted in 'Over the Top!' under Top Champion Geeta, who used it with two Glimmet against Liko, Roy and Dot. It beat Roy's Crocalor and Dot's Quaxwell before Liko's Floragato defeated it.
