Klinklang

Klinklang is a Steel-type Pokémon, the Gear Pokémon, number 601 (#0601) in the National Pokédex. It was introduced in Generation 5 and comes from the Unova region. It is 0.6 m tall and weighs 81 kg.
Klinklang is the Gear Pokémon whose red core is an energy tank: it spins the core to charge, then fires blasts of electricity from its spikes. The Pokédex adds a twist, that its newest, spiked gear is not a living creature.

Lore
Biology
Klinklang is 0.6 m tall and weighs 81 kg. It is made of four interlocking gears: two small ones with six teeth, a large one with eight, and a spiked gear underneath topped by a red core. The Pokédex says the gear with the red core spins at high speed for a rapid charge, and that the stored energy is fired out through its spikes into the area around it.
Behaviour
In the Mystery Dungeon games, Bulbapedia says, dialogue between Klinklang's two faced gears suggests that each thinks independently.
Habitat
The Pokédex gives no habitat. In Black 2 and White 2 it appears in the P2 Laboratory's rustling grass, and in the anime a wild one lives in Chargestone Cave.
Powers
Klinklang's signature move is Gear Grind, which Bulbapedia says only it and its pre-evolutions can learn; Shift Gear was also a signature move before Generation VII. It also learns Gear Up, Magnetic Flux and Zap Cannon. With base Defense 115, Attack 100 and Speed 90 it is a sturdy bruiser.
Name origin
Klinklang may combine Klink and Klang, which themselves echo 'clink' and 'clang'. The Japanese name is Gigigiaru (ギギギアル), which may come from 'gear' with the first syllable repeated twice.
Design inspiration
Klinklang appears to blend several real gear types: a sun-and-planet set, a bevel gear and an external gear, and it may also recall a balance wheel. The red core could be a nod to the ruby jewel bearings in mechanical watches. These are fan readings.
Evolution notes
Klinklang evolves from Klang at level 49 and is the final form of the Klink line.
In the games
Klinklang is reached by evolving Klang in Black and White, its first game. In Sword and Shield it is wild in Hammerlocke Hills and the Lake of Outrage. It is unobtainable in Scarlet and Violet and in Legends: Z-A.
In the anime
Klinklang's TV debut was in 'Evolution Exchange Excitement!', where a wild one in Chargestone Cave had a pen belonging to Cedric Juniper stuck in its gears.
