Lore
Biology
Magnezone is 1.2 m tall and weighs 180 kg. A wide metal disc with one big red-pupilled eye, it has a Magnemite-like unit on each side, a tall yellow rod on top like an antenna, and a third magnet behind like a tail. Its magnets let it manipulate gravity and float, and in the anime and manga that anti-gravity can carry people with ease. The Pokédex says an internal radar tracks intruders.
Behaviour
Magnezone guards its territory and can be aggressive, though in the anime it rarely attacks without provocation. The Pokédex says its magnetism can be so strong that two stick together and cannot move. Bulbapedia, citing Pokémon Sleep, adds that its screws and magnets spin while it sleeps.
Habitat
Bulbapedia notes it is seldom seen in the wild. In Scarlet and Violet it is found around East Province and the Great Crater of Paldea, and Bulbapedia lists it as unobtainable in Legends: Z-A.
Powers
Its Abilities are Magnet Pull and Sturdy, with Analytic hidden. It uses Tri Attack, Zap Cannon, Magnetic Flux and Mirror Coat, and can set up Electric Terrain. With base Special Attack 130 and Defense 115 it is a heavy special attacker, though its Speed is only 60.
Name origin
Magnezone may combine 'magnetic zone', another name for a magnetic field, with 'Magneton'. The Japanese name is Jibacoil (ジバコイル), perhaps from jiba ('magnetic field'), jibaku ('self-detonation') and 'electromagnetic coil'.
Design inspiration
Magnezone looks like a fused Magneton, with one Magnemite grown large and two now small side units, and perhaps a flying saucer. Its shape and name may also echo the Hiragumo tea kettle of the warlord Matsunaga Hisahide, who legend says blew it up with gunpowder rather than let Oda Nobunaga take it. These are fan readings.
Evolution notes
Magneton becomes Magnezone when it levels up inside a special magnetic field, or with a Thunder Stone from Generation VIII onwards.
In the games
Magnezone first appeared in Diamond and Pearl. In the Explorers of Time, Darkness and Sky Mystery Dungeon games, Officer Magnezone is the region's main officer and hauls away the outlaws you arrest.
In the anime
Zero's Magnezone led an army of Magnemite and Magneton in the film 'Giratina and the Sky Warrior'. A wild Magnezone made its series debut in 'Regaining the Home Advantage!', fighting a Metagross over a crater.

- A September 2013 Pokémon Direct labelled Magnezone as female, although it is genderless.
