Porygon

Porygon is a Normal-type Pokémon, the Virtual Pokémon, number 137 (#0137) in the National Pokédex. It was introduced in Generation 1 and comes from the Kanto region. It is 0.8 m tall and weighs 36.5 kg.
Porygon is the Virtual Pokémon, the first artificial Pokémon, made entirely of programming code. It does not breathe, can turn itself into data to travel through cyberspace, and the Pokédex says its code is copy-protected, so nobody can duplicate it.

Lore
Biology
Porygon is built from pink and blue polygons: a pink head with a blue beak, a pink body with a blue front, blue feet and a blue rectangular tail. It is 0.8 m tall and weighs 36.5 kg. The Pokédex says it was made with the latest technology of its day, much of it now obsolete, and its programming has only basic actions.
Behaviour
Porygon can revert entirely to program data and enter cyberspace, where the Pokédex says it now checks for suspicious data. One entry calls it the only Pokémon people expect might fly into space, though none has managed it yet.
Habitat
Urban, according to the Pokédex habitat list; Bulbapedia says it is usually found in computers and labs. In Scarlet and Violet it arrives by transfer or trade, or wild in The Indigo Disk; in Legends: Z-A it comes by trade or in the Mega Dimension DLC's Hyperspace Lumiose.
Diet
It does not need to eat or breathe.
Powers
Trace copies an opponent's Ability and Download raises the stat that suits the foe's weaker defence, with Analytic hidden. Conversion and Conversion 2 change its type, and Bulbapedia says no other Pokémon could learn them before Generation IX. It also learns Tri Attack and Zap Cannon.
Name origin
Porygon comes from porigon, the Japanese word for 'polygon', the flat shapes used to build 3D graphics. The Japanese name is the same word, Porygon (ポリゴン).
Design inspiration
In a 1997 magazine interview, Satoshi Tajiri said Porygon was made out of irony. People told him he was too late making a Game Boy game and should move to 3D polygon graphics, so he put a Pokémon made of polygons into sprite-based Red and Green (Red and Blue outside Japan).
Evolution notes
Porygon evolves into Porygon2 by trading while holding an Upgrade. Its line is the only one that evolves by trading twice.
In the games
Players first find Porygon at the Game Corner in Celadon City in Red and Blue. In Legends: Arceus it arrives through space-time distortions in the Crimson Mirelands, and in Legends: Z-A a Mega Dimension side mission, 'Porygon's Polygon Count', involves trading one.
In the anime
Its only major episode, commonly translated 'Electric Soldier Porygon', was first shown in Japan on 16 December 1997. A flashing effect made many viewers ill, so the episode was never aired again anywhere.
