Shinx

Shinx is a Electric-type Pokémon, the Flash Pokémon, number 403 (#0403) in the National Pokédex. It was introduced in Generation 4 and comes from the Sinnoh region. It is 0.5 m tall and weighs 9.5 kg.
Shinx is a small blue-and-black lion cub that makes electricity by flexing the muscles in its forelegs, and its fur glows when it is in trouble. It looks cute but is aggressive, and the Pokédex says taming one takes patience.

Lore
Biology
Shinx is 0.5 m tall and weighs 9.5 kg. Its front half is light blue and its back half is black, with yellow star-shaped markings inside its large ears and a star at the tip of its tail. Muscle contractions in its forelegs generate its electricity, and excited trembling means it is producing a great deal. Pokémon Sleep adds that a sleeping Shinx can give off sparks as it rolls around.
Behaviour
Shinx is aggressive despite its size. If it senses danger, its coat shines so brightly that it dazzles the foe, giving Shinx a moment to flee. It also signals to other Shinx by shaking the glowing tip of its tail.
Habitat
The Pokédex gives no habitat. In Scarlet and Violet it lives in South Province Area Three, and in The Teal Mask in Kitakami around Fellhorn Gorge, Paradise Barrens and Timeless Woods.
Powers
Shinx's Abilities are Rivalry, which boosts its damage against Pokémon of the same gender and weakens it against the opposite gender, and Intimidate, with Guts hidden. It learns Thunder Shock, Spark and Charge early, bites with Bite and Crunch, and later gets Volt Switch and Wild Charge. Attack 65 is its best base stat.
Name origin
Shinx may blend 'shining', 'shock', 'sphinx' and 'lynx'. The Japanese name is Kolink (コリンク), perhaps from ko (child) and 'lynx'.
Design inspiration
Shinx resembles a lion cub, though Bulbapedia also sees a lynx kitten, and the sphinx hides in its name. The star on its tail may refer to the constellation Leo Minor or simply to an electric spark. These are fan readings.
Evolution notes
Shinx becomes Luxio at level 15, and Luxio becomes Luxray at level 30.
In the games
In Legends: Arceus, Request 3, 'What Did Shinx's Ears Look Like?', has Toshi asking the player to show him one, and the species debuted in Diamond and Pearl. In Scarlet and Violet it appears in 2-star Tera Raid Battles, and it is not available in Legends: Z-A.
In the anime
Shinx debuted in 'Not On MY Watch Ya Don't!' as Landis's Pokémon and played a major role. Angie's main Pokémon in 'Camping It Up!' is a male Shinx who spends much of his time outside his Poké Ball.
