Lore
Biology
Tinkaton is 0.7 m tall and 112.8 kg, with white arms, silver eyes and a big pinkish-white growth on its head that droops down its back like twin tails. Its hammer is crude, gigantic and larger than its own body, which seems to be built up from its Tinkatuff hammer with scraps of grey and purple metal welded on and a spiked, axe-like part on top. The Pokédex says it tops 100 kg (220 lb), yet Tinkaton swings it easily.
Behaviour
Tinkaton is reckless as well as intelligent, Bulbapedia says, and the Pokédex says it takes whatever it likes and brings the loot home. According to its Legends: Z-A entry, a Tinkaton leader coaches the Tinkatink of its group in metalworking.
Habitat
The Pokédex gives no habitat. In Scarlet and Violet it cannot be found in the wild: you evolve a Tinkatuff or meet one in 5-star and 6-star Tera Raid Battles.
Powers
Tinkaton shares Mold Breaker, Own Tempo and hidden Pickpocket with its line. Its signature move is Gigaton Hammer, a 160-power Steel attack it learns on evolving, that Bulbapedia says no other Pokémon can learn; it also uses Play Rough, Flash Cannon and Knock Off. A Pokopia-only Supervisor form, a Tinkaton called Tinkmaster, carries a tool-kit hammer with a wrench and saw and can lead building projects. With 105 base Special Defense and 94 Speed it is a quick, bulky Fairy and Steel type.
Name origin
Tinkaton may blend 'tinker' with 'ton' or 'gigaton'. The Japanese name is Dekanuchan (デカヌチャン), perhaps dekai ('huge'), kanuchi (blacksmith) and the friendly suffix -chan.
Design inspiration
Bulbapedia credits Megumi Mizutani with the Tinkatink line, citing her post on social media. Its type pair may draw on dwarfs, and its war on Corviknight, the Steel-type bird that works as a taxi, recalls gremlins, the mischievous creatures once blamed for aircraft malfunctions in World War II. Its petite frame against a massive hammer may also play on small characters with giant weapons in popular media. These are fan readings.
Evolution notes
Tinkaton is the final stage, evolving from Tinkatuff at level 38.
In the games
Tinkaton is a playable melee All-Rounder in Pokémon UNITE, beginning as Tinkatink and evolving at levels 5 and 7, and a Tinkaton is the ally you must protect in the Panic Parade mode. It debuted in Scarlet and Violet. In Legends: Z-A it appears in the Mega Dimension DLC's Hyperspace Lumiose, with Hyperspace dex number 18, and Bulbapedia says the base game can obtain it only by trade.
In the anime
Dot's Tinkatuff evolved into Tinkaton in 'Tinkatuff's Hammer Wasn't Made in a Year!' during a battle against Coral's Glalie, and its new hammer came out of an old pink microphone. Poppy's Tinkaton, nicknamed Tinkie, debuted in 'Showdown! The Paldea Elite Four'.
