Toxel

Toxel is a Electric/Poison-type Pokémon, the Baby Pokémon, number 848 (#0848) in the National Pokédex. It was introduced in Generation 8 and comes from the Galar region. It is 0.4 m tall and weighs 11 kg.
Toxel is the Baby Pokémon, a selfish little Electric and Poison type that throws tantrums even in its sleep. Cuddling it is a bad idea: it leaks poison through its skin, and the tingle that follows is no fun.

Lore
Biology
Toxel is a small, purple, lizard-like quadruped, 0.4 m tall and 11 kg, with a lightning-bolt shape on its forehead and four cone-shaped spikes round its head. A pale chest spot looks like a baby's bib and its lower half like a nappy. Poison and electricity are kept in two separate sacs. An organ filters what it drinks into a poison harmless to itself, and by changing that poison's chemistry it makes electricity; the voltage is weak, but the Pokédex says it causes a tingling paralysis.
Behaviour
Toxel is selfish and attention-seeking, and the Pokémon Sleep entry says it sometimes throws tantrums in its sleep. Anyone tempted to cradle it feels a tingle, because it releases poison through its skin.
Habitat
The Pokédex gives no habitat; Serebii lists mountain, cave and grass biomes in Paldea, where it lives in South Province. In Legends: Z-A it appears only in the Mega Dimension DLC's Hyperspace Lumiose, in the Electric wild zones.
Diet
It drinks dirty water without any trouble, according to the Pokédex.
Powers
Toxel's Abilities are Rattled and Static, with Klutz hidden. It knows moves such as Nuzzle, Acid and Belch, and its best base stat is Special Attack at 54.
Name origin
Toxel may combine 'toxic', 'toddle', 'cell', 'electric' and 'little'. The Japanese name Eleson (エレズン) may combine 'electric' and 'poison'.
Design inspiration
Yusuke Kozaki designed Toxel and its evolution. Bulbapedia suggests it is based on lizards and frogs, mainly the poison dart frog, and on a human baby, given its nappy-like lower half and tantrums. These are fan readings.
Evolution notes
Evolves into Toxtricity at level 30, and its Nature picks the form: Amped Form for 13 Natures (including Hardy and Jolly), Low Key Form for the other 12 (including Timid and Calm). Mints do not change the result.
In the games
A Pokémon Breeder in the Pokémon Nursery on Route 5 gives you a Toxel in Sword and Shield, where it debuted. In Scarlet and Violet it appears in 1-star Tera Raid Battles.
In the anime
Toxel debuted in 'Curtain Up! Fight the Fights!', owned by a Trainer. A Toxel makes a brief cameo at the start of 'The Champion' in Pokémon Evolutions, owned by Gloria.
Fun facts
- Bulbapedia says it is the first baby Pokémon since Generation IV, and the only baby introduced alone in its generation.
- Bulbapedia says the two white spots on Toxel's back are based on Mongolian spots, a birthmark seen on some babies.
- Every move Toxel learns by levelling up is learnt at level 1, so it never picks up a new move before it evolves.
