Volcanion

Volcanion is a Fire/Water-type Pokémon, the Steam Pokémon, number 721 (#0721) in the National Pokédex. It was introduced in Generation 6 and comes from the Kalos region. It is 1.7 m tall and weighs 195 kg.
Volcanion is the Steam Pokémon, a Mythical Fire and Water type that boils water inside its body and blasts the steam out of two cannon-like arms with enough force to blow away a mountain. Bulbapedia says Kalos and other regions worship it as a land-shaping, nation-building Pokémon.

Lore
Biology
Volcanion is a 1.7 m, 195 kg maroon quadruped with blue eyes, yellow eyebrow-like markings and a yellow mandible. Its body has a large front half, a thin blue waist and small hips. On its back sit two arm-like cannons that normally form a ring. Bulbapedia says an organ in its body vaporises the water it absorbs at extreme temperatures, and the Pokédex says the steam leaves through those arms.
Behaviour
Volcanion hides in billows of steam and vanishes into the fog. The Pokédex says it makes its home in mountains that people never walk. In the film it can run out of water, after which a bell-like sound rings, the markings on its cannons go red and it cannot use Water moves until it refills.
Habitat
The Pokédex says it lives in remote mountains that people never walk. In Scarlet and Violet it can only be brought from HOME, and in Legends: Z-A a single Volcanion appears in the Mega Dimension DLC, in the Pokémon Research Lab in Vert District.
Powers
Its Ability is Water Absorb. Its signature move is Steam Eruption, which Bulbapedia says no other known Pokémon can learn. It also learns Scald, Hydro Pump, Flare Blitz and Overheat. In the film it flies by firing water from its cannons like rockets and uses them to block attacks. Base Special Attack of 130 and Defense of 120 make it a sturdy special attacker.
Name origin
Volcanion may combine 'volcano' or 'volcanic' with 'lion' or 'union', since it is both Water and Fire, and perhaps 'canyon' or the Spanish cañón ('cannon'). The Japanese name is ボルケニオン, romanised Volcanion.
Design inspiration
Volcanion may draw on steam engines and boilers, with its arms acting as artillery. Bulbapedia also suggests the Ryukyuan shisa and komainu, lion-dog guardian statues. These are fan readings.
In the games
Volcanion is a Mythical Pokémon from Generation VI. In Omega Ruby and Alpha Sapphire, the game reveals that Brandon has led expeditions to find it in Kalos, Johto and Sinnoh. It was handed out through serial-code events in 2016 and 2017.
In the anime
Volcanion stars in the film Volcanion and the Mechanical Marvel, where it hates humans and goes after the Azoth Kingdom to take back Magearna, an artificial Pokémon.
