Kommo-o

Kommo-o is a Dragon/Fighting-type Pokémon, the Scaly Pokémon, number 784 (#0784) in the National Pokédex. It was introduced in Generation 7 and comes from the Alola region. It is 1.6 m tall and weighs 78.2 kg.
Kommo-o is the Scaly Pokémon at its fiercest, a Dragon and Fighting warrior whose uppercut can send an opponent high into the sky. Legend says the glitter of its scales is meant to chase off a great darkness, which may be why it keeps seeking out strong opponents.

Lore
Biology
Kommo-o is a 1.6 m, 78.2 kg reptilian warrior covered in grey scale armour trimmed with yellow and red, with a headdress of scales, chains of scales behind its shoulders and loose scales near its tail. The Moon Pokédex says its rigid scales work for offence and defence and were once processed into weapons and other goods, and the Shield entry describes ruin paintings of ancient warriors armoured in them.
Behaviour
Kommo-o rattles its tail scales when it sees an enemy, and the Pokédex says weak opponents crack and flee in panic. It swings its specialty punch up from a hanging arm, and after a win it howls while its comrades celebrate with metallic clangs. Bulbapedia says it returns to where it was born after its training, to watch over young Jangmo-o from a distance.
Habitat
In Alola it appears wild only in Vast Poni Canyon, through SOS Battles. In Scarlet and Violet you evolve it from Hakamo-o in Kitakami, where it also appears in 5 and 6 star Tera Raid Battles.
Powers
Its scale-rattling has become signature moves: Bulbapedia says no other known Pokémon can learn Clanging Scales or Clangorous Soul, or use the Z-Move Clangorous Soulblaze. Its Abilities Bulletproof and Soundproof block ball, bomb and sound moves, and its Hidden Ability Overcoat shrugs off weather damage. With Close Combat, Dragon Dance and Boomburst, a base stat total of 600, Defense 125 and Attack 110, it is a sturdy, hard-hitting attacker.
Name origin
Kommo-o may combine 'commotion' with moʻo, and could also nod to 'combat', 'commander' and the Komodo dragon. The Japanese name is Jyararanga (ジャラランガ), which may combine jarajara (a jingling sound), 'dragon' and garangaran (a clanging sound).
Design inspiration
Its body shape appears to be a theropod dinosaur with ankylosaur touches, though Bulbapedia notes its Scarlet and Violet textures show fur, which may point to pangolins and armadillos. Its tail may recall a monk's khakkhara staff, and the Hawaiian moʻo, a shapeshifting dragon, is another likely source. These are fan readings.
Evolution notes
Kommo-o is the final form of the line, evolving from Hakamo-o at level 45.
In the games
Kommo-o is the Totem Pokémon of the Vast Poni Canyon trial in Sun and Moon, where it debuted: it has a golden Z-Power aura, and defeating it earns a Dragonium Z. In Sword and Shield it is a Sword exclusive, and in Legends: Z-A it is not available.
In the anime
Kommo-o debuted in 'Family Determination!' as the Totem Pokémon of Vast Poni Canyon and lost to Gladion's Silvally, which changed to Fairy type for an extremely effective Multi-Attack. Cynthia has one in 'The Gates of Warp!'
Fun facts

- In Ultra Moon, Samson Oak at Heahea Beach hands over a Totem-sized Kommo-o if you have 100 Totem Stickers.
- Bulbapedia says that in the games since Generation VIII it mostly knuckle-walks, although the anime shows it walking upright.
