Lore
Biology
Glaceon is a light blue quadruped with long pointed ears, a teal crest with a pair of hanging flaps, like hair or a hat, and two dark blue diamond markings on its back. It is 0.8 m tall and weighs 25.9 kg. By chilling its body it can freeze its fur into spikes that it fires, or tackles its prey with, and it can turn the moisture around it into ice pellets.
Behaviour
Glaceon's coldness makes powdery snow form, which has made it popular at ski resorts. The Sword Pokédex entry warns that people who stare at its lovely snowfall may freeze solid without noticing.
Habitat
The Pokédex habitat list gives none. In Scarlet and Violet it is found only on Glaseado Mountain in the North Province.
Powers
Snow Cloak raises its evasion in hail or snow, and its hidden Ability Ice Body heals it there. In Scarlet and Violet it learns Icy Wind, Ice Shard, Ice Fang, Snowscape, Freeze-Dry, Mirror Coat and Blizzard, with Ice Beam by TM. With 130 base Special Attack and 110 base Defense it is a special attacker that also takes physical hits well.
Name origin
Glaceon may combine 'glacier', or the French glace ('ice'), with 'eon', the ending every Eevee evolution shares. The Japanese name is Glacia (グレイシア), perhaps from 'glacier' and 'grace'.
Design inspiration
Atsuko Nishida designed Glaceon. Its cold habitat hints at an arctic fox more than a generic fox, and the crest on its head resembles an ushanka or scarf hat. These are fan readings.
Evolution notes
Eevee evolves into Glaceon with an Ice Stone, which has worked since Generation VIII, or by levelling up near an Ice Rock, the only way before then.
In the games
Glaceon is a 6-star Tera Raid boss in Scarlet and Violet. In Legends: Z-A it is in Wild Zone 20 of Centrico Plaza and again in the Mega Dimension DLC's Hyperspace Lumiose. It debuted in Diamond and Pearl, and in Legends: Arceus it appears in space-time distortions in the Alabaster Icelands, where you can also evolve Eevee into it.
In the anime
May's Eevee had already evolved into a Glaceon when it debuted in 'A Full Course Tag Battle!'. Cynthia's Glaceon makes ice for Meloetta in 'All for the Love of Meloetta!'.
