Eternatus is the tallest Pokémon at 20 m (787 in). Wailord, at 14.5 m, is the tallest one that is not Legendary. Guinness World Records also names Eternatus, and says Wailord held the record before it. The numbers on this page come from the pokee.si Pokédex data.
Eternatus also has an Eternamax form that is 100 m tall. Players cannot use it, because it only appears in one story battle. If you are not sure how to say the name, try the pronunciation guide.
How tall is a Pikachu?
Pikachu is 0.4 m tall, about 16 inches. To picture a big Pokémon, count how many Pikachus you would need to stack. The "Pikachus tall" column in the next table does that sum.
The top 25 tallest Pokémon
The "Group" column shows special groups like Legendary and Ultra Beast. A dash means a regular Pokémon. Some Pokémon are tied, such as Steelix and Celesteela at 9.2 m, so the order inside a tie is not a ranking.

The tallest Pokémon of each generation
A generation is a group of Pokémon that arrived with a new set of games. See Pokémon generations in order for the full list.
| Gen | Tallest | Height |
|---|---|---|
| 1 | Onix | 8.8 m |
| 2 | Steelix | 9.2 m |

Generation 5 has the shortest record holder. Its tallest, Serperior, is only 3.3 m.
Gigantamax forms are far taller
In Pokémon Sword and Shield, some Pokémon can Gigantamax, which makes them giant for a few turns. The Pokédex gives every Gigantamax height with a plus sign. Bulbapedia says this suggests the number is only a minimum estimate. The full list is in the Gigantamax Pokémon list.
| Gigantamax form | Height | Normal height |
|---|---|---|
| Gigantamax Centiskorch | 75+ m | 3 m |
| Gigantamax Duraludon | 43+ m | 1.8 m |
| Gigantamax Coalossal | 42+ m | 2.8 m |
| Gigantamax Inteleon | 40+ m | 1.9 m |
| Gigantamax Snorlax | 35+ m | 2.1 m |
| Gigantamax Meowth | 33+ m | 0.4 m |
| Gigantamax Grimmsnarl | 32+ m | 1.5 m |
| Gigantamax Alcremie | 30+ m | 0.3 m |
| Gigantamax Single Strike Urshifu | 29+ m | 1.9 m |
| Gigantamax Charizard | 28+ m | 1.7 m |
There are 34 Gigantamax forms in the data. Even the shortest, Gigantamax Butterfree, is listed at 17+ m. Gigantamax only lasts a few turns in battle, so this page keeps these forms out of the main tables. To see how it works, read the Dynamax and Gigantamax guide.
The tallest regular forms
Some forms are taller than the Pokémon they come from. The tallest in the data are:
- Alolan Exeggutor 10.9 m (normal Exeggutor is 2 m)
- Mega Rayquaza 10.8 m (normal 7 m)
- Mega Steelix 10.5 m (normal 9.2 m)
- Primal Kyogre 9.8 m (normal 4.5 m)
Alolan Exeggutor goes from 2 m to 10.9 m, more than five times taller. Bulbapedia calls it the tallest Grass type. The type table above counts species only, which is why Dhelmise leads Grass there.
How tall is a normal Pokémon?
Most Pokémon are much smaller than the giants above. The average height is 1.21 m and the median is 1 m. The median is the middle number when you line them all up by height. In the data, 129 Pokémon are 2 m or taller, 48 are 3 m or taller and just 16 reach 5 m. At the other end, 114 are 0.3 m or shorter. Meet those in the smallest Pokémon article.
