There are 65 Ghost-type Pokémon species: 16 are pure Ghost and 49 have a second type. Ghost types are weak to Ghost and Dark moves, and Normal and Fighting moves cannot hit them at all.
That is 6% of the 1,025 species in the Pokédex. We count species, so each Pokémon is counted once. Bulbapedia's own Ghost count includes forms, so it is higher than ours.

How to beat Ghost types
A pure Ghost type is weak to Ghost and Dark moves. It resists Poison and Bug moves.
Ghost types are immune to Normal and Fighting moves, and Ghost is the only type immune to two types. Ghost and Normal are also the only two types that are immune to each other. A few things get around that. Scrappy, Mind's Eye, Foresight and Odor Sleuth let Normal and Fighting moves hit a Ghost type. Our guide to Pokémon immunities has the full list.
Ghost types also get a battle perk. From Generation VI, they are immune to effects that stop a Pokémon switching out or escaping, such as Mean Look and Shadow Tag. They also always escape from wild battles.
What Ghost moves beat
Ghost moves are super effective against Ghost and Psychic. Dark Pokémon resist them, and Normal Pokémon take no damage. Ghost and Dragon are the only two types that are super effective against themselves.
One old rule is gone. In Generation I only, Ghost moves had no effect on Psychic Pokémon.
