Generation 9 · Paldea

How to pronounce every Gen 9 Pokémon name

Generation 9 is the Paldea generation: 120 Pokémon, numbers 906 to 1025 in the National Pokédex.

18 of the 120 respellings follow English official media or a dictionary, and 102 are our best guess, worked out from the parts of the name because we found no English source that says them out loud. 97 names have medium confidence, usually because English media do not all say it the same way; the note under the name says how. 6 names are marked with a question mark: Chien-Pao, Grafaiai, Greavard, Iron Jugulis, Maschiff and Wo-Chien.

The Pokémon Company has corrected 4 names from this generation at its own events: Arboliva, Farigiraf, Garganacl and Kingambit. A hyphen in a name is not pronounced: Chi-Yu is chee-YOO, Chien-Pao is chen-POW, Ting-Lu is ting-LOO and Wo-Chien is woh-CHEN.

Capital letters mark the loud syllable: PEE-kuh-choo means the PEE gets the push.
